About Us

The Olive Chapel Elementary community will create a collaborative environment that ignites a passion for learning in all children so that they reach their full potential.

At Olive Chapel Elementary, we believe:

  • Celebrating growth and success for both students and staff is key to a positive school community.
  • An equitable and loving environment will create a welcoming school for all staff, students, families and community members. Inclusion and acceptance are mandatory at OCE. All students will be accepted for who they are and given every opportunity to learn and succeed.
  • An environment with high expectations will foster a culture of enthusiasm for learning and provide rigorous instruction where students will thrive.
  • Through the Growth Mindset philosophy, all students can learn to persevere and develop an intrinsic sense of learning through goal-setting and the celebration of meeting those goals.
  • Passionate educators maintain a strong work ethic that is transferred to their students. Staff are dedicated to continually adapting and refining their craft to meet the needs of all students.
  • Collaboration and support are the cornerstone to a high-yielding learning environment. We believe PLCs should be high-functioning teams that lead to growth for both students and teachers. We believe students should have many opportunities to practice collaborative skills within the classroom.
  • All families should be engaged and encouraged to feel they are a member of our school community.
  • Staff members should have the resources and support they need to be successful.

Communications from OCE

These are the things you should expect from our school staff:

  • One weekly emailed newsletter from your classroom teacher

  • One weekly emailed newsletter from the principal

  • Occasional reminders and text messages will be sent through Talking Points. Talking Points is a communication system from WCPSS that can text parents directly without the need of an additional app.

  • TalkingPoints does have an app for people who prefer that method of communication. However, once the app is downloaded, messages will no longer be sent as texts.

    •  Tips for using Talking Points:

      • If you download the app, you will only receive messages through the app. If you do not want the app, do not download the app and you will continue to get text messages.

      • If you choose to download the app, all messages will go directly to the app.
