Guided School Tours and End-of-Grade Testing

Barnes & Noble Book Fair continues Online

Thanks to everyone who came out to Barnes & Noble in Cary this week to make our short book fair a success. 100% of the funds we have for library books at OCE comes from your support of our book fairs.

Barnes & Noble Book Fair is Underway

When: Monday & Tuesday, May 14-15 from 9:00am to 9:00pm.
Where: 760 SE Maynard Road, Cary (across Walnut St. from Cary Towne Center)
How: Shop in-store or online. Bring your voucher or let them know at checkout that you are with Olive Chapel. Shop online at http://bn.com/bookfair and use Bookfair ID 10744555 at checkout. Forward this code to friends and family.
What: A percentage of all sales (Books, Nooks, Music, Games, and Cafe) will be donated to the OCE Library Media Center.

Special events:

  • Board Games/ThinkFun Games/Scavenger Hunt on Monday, May 14. Drop in anytime from 6:00 to 8:00pm to play.
  • The OCE Chorus will perform Tuesday, May 15 at 6:00pm.

Artapalooza Raffle Tickets on Sale This Week

It's almost here! You can get a sneak peek at this year's raffle baskets this week from 11:00am-1:30pm Tuesday through Friday. They will be on display outside the PTA office between the School Office and the Gym. You can also pre-purchase raffle tickets, t-shirts, and wristbands for Saturday at those times.

End-of-Grade Testing Schedule

North Carolina End-of-Grade testing will begin at Olive Chapel on Thursday, May 3rd. The testing schedule below applies to all students in Grades 3-5. Please note that only students in 5th grade will be taking the End-of-Grade (EOG) test in Science.

Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Cary will host an Olive Chapel Elementary School Book Fair on Monday & Tuesday, May 14-15, 2012. This event we be exclusively in-store and online.

Featured events to include:

  • OCE Chorus Performance
  • ThinkFun Game Night
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake orders (pre-sold only - look for flyers soon)
  • Student artwork
  • An exclusive Cafe drink made just for Olive Chapel!

Field Day Update for April 23

Due to a sudden, brief, and unexpected hailstorm, we had to postpone Field Day for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes on Tracks 2 & 4 (plus Mrs. Beech and Mrs. Scala). We will reschedule for Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 9:30-11:30am.

We are still short some volunteers and may need additional help due to people not being able to come as originally planned.

Order 2012-13 School Supplies Online

School supply kits for next school year can now be ordered online. This is not a fundraiser for the Olive Chapel PTA, but rather a service it provides. You may also shop for supplies on your own. Supply lists will be posted in this blog and also on the school main page when they are available.

To shop online, visit http://www.shopttkits.com/. Use school code #38010. The deadline to order kits online is Friday, May 4, 2012.

Prices for this kits are as follows:

  • 1st grade kit - $58.00
  • 2nd grade kit - $50.00
  • 3rd grade kit - $48.00
  • 4th grade kit - $54.00
  • 5th grade kit - $58.00

Be sure to order the kit(s) for the grade your child(ren) will be in next year.
