Guided School Tours and End-of-Grade Testing

End-of-Grade Testing will take place at Olive Chapel between May 3 and June 19. During this time, Guided School Tours will be made by appointment only. Please contact the Main Office at 919.387.4440 to schedule a tour. Click here for more information on Registration and Student Assignment.

Barnes & Noble Book Fair continues Online

Thanks to everyone who came out to Barnes & Noble in Cary this week to make our short book fair a success. 100% of the funds we have for library books at OCE comes from your support of our book fairs.

If you missed out on coming to the store, you can still shop online through Sunday, May 20. Browse to http://bn.com/bookfairs. Click on the Start Shopping Now button in the orange box. Then follow these directions at checkout:

  • On the payment page, scroll down to the bottom and choose "Check this box if this is a Bookfair Order".

Barnes & Noble Book Fair is Underway

When: Monday & Tuesday, May 14-15 from 9:00am to 9:00pm.
Where: 760 SE Maynard Road, Cary (across Walnut St. from Cary Towne Center)
How: Shop in-store or online. Bring your voucher or let them know at checkout that you are with Olive Chapel. Shop online at http://bn.com/bookfair and use Bookfair ID 10744555 at checkout. Forward this code to friends and family.
What: A percentage of all sales (Books, Nooks, Music, Games, and Cafe) will be donated to the OCE Library Media Center.

Special events:

  • Board Games/ThinkFun Games/Scavenger Hunt on Monday, May 14. Drop in anytime from 6:00 to 8:00pm to play.
  • The OCE Chorus will perform Tuesday, May 15 at 6:00pm.

End-of-Grade Testing Schedule

North Carolina End-of-Grade testing will begin at Olive Chapel on Thursday, May 3rd. The testing schedule below applies to all students in Grades 3-5. Please note that only students in 5th grade will be taking the End-of-Grade (EOG) test in Science.

PTA presents $6,000 in Technology to staff

It was Oprah's Favorite Things - OCE style - last week at our early release. Many of you who attended the chorus concert learned that the PTA had agreed to donate the first $6,000 to the school to begin purchasing new technology for our classrooms. What you (and our teachers) didn't know was that the money had already been spent and the equipment was already in the building.

Library Volunteers needed

Thanks to everyone for coming out for the Book Fair. We had a great turnout and all our success is due to the hard work of our many volunteers. The Media Center will be back to full library operations beginning on November 21. We'll be looking for shelving help and guest readers again. With the amazing support of our school community, we have been able to continue and even expand services to our young readers.
